課程概述

Being information literate is crucial for citizens in information age. Information literacy has been seen as one of the important factors of improving students’ learning outcomes. This has been especially significant since the rise of Internet and electronic materials. The goal of this course is to have the students become information literate. The students who take this course will be able to recognize and analyze information needs, identify proper information sources, retrieve information in an efficient way, select and use information in an appropriate manner. 

課程目標
Have the student become information literate, one can
- Determine the nature and extent of information needed.
- Access needed information effectively and efficiently
- Evaluate information and its sources critically and incorporate selected information into his or her knowledge base and value system
- Uses information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose, individually or as a member of a group.
- Understand the economic, legal and social issues surrounding the use of information and access and use information ethically and legally.  
課程要求
Homework: 40 % (3 Take Home Assignments, 10, 15, 15)
Exercises: 25 % (5 In-Class Exercises with practice, 5×5)
Final exam: 25 % (Online Search and Short Answer Test)
Participation: 10 % (Attendance and Discussion)
